Mid-term Departure Policy

As a valued member of our teaching network, your professionalism and reliability are critical to maintaining the high standard of learning we promise to our students and partner organizations. This policy outlines the expectations and process when an instructor chooses to step away from active teaching duties.

1. Notice Requirement

Instructors are expected to provide a minimum of two weeks’ notice before concluding their engagement with the network while actively teaching classes. This notice is not a legal employment requirement, but a professional commitment to ensuring continuity for students and a respectful transition for our partner organizations.

2. Impact on Future Opportunities

The manner in which an instructor exits the network may influence:

  • Eligibility for future teaching or collaboration opportunities within the network.

  • The issuance of letters of reference or recommendations from our organization.

Departures that reflect thoughtful planning and consideration of student impact are viewed favorably.

3. Class Completion Expectations

To support a smooth transition:

  • Instructors are strongly encouraged to teach at least two more scheduled classes after providing notice. At minimum, one additional class should be completed post-notice.

  • If notice is provided after the final taught class, a financial penalty of 50% of the final class rate will apply. This penalty may be waived if the conditions below are met.

4. Offboarding Sequence and Penalty Waiver

If an instructor is unable to fulfill the minimum class completion expectations, the financial penalty may be waived if they successfully complete an offboarding sequence within 48 hours of departure notice. This includes:

  • Submitting lesson plans for the next two scheduled classes.

  • Providing access details for stored materials, resources, or handoffs.

  • Responding to reasonable transition questions from the coordination team.

If the offboarding sequence is fully completed within 48 hours of departure notice, and at least 48 hours before the following class is scheduled, the penalty will be considered for waiver. Partial compliance or delayed responses may reduce the likelihood of waiver.
